Joe Paterno

Joe Paterno the extremely respectly head coach of the Penn State football team was almost a celebrity in university football, his students had a 90% graduationrate and he coached more NFLplayers thenany other coach. All the years of hardwork and detication came to a crashing hault when he neglected to inform the authorities of something he should have, a case of child molestation by his team trainer.

IDCI Stairclimb

It may have beenat the beginning of the semester but I believe the staircimb was my breaking piont, I went from anyother unspirited student who had never gone to stairclimbto one of the most spirted students in the entire community centre, I believe the reason for that is becasue I felt I was a part of helping stairclimb happen, I was behind the scenes which is exactly what I love to do. The only time I will ever truly be a part of something fully is if I ambehind the scenes.

Tragedy of Teen Suicide

Teen suicide could been deemed possibly the most tragic occurrence in a community and it's a red flag that something needs to be changed. Teachers need to be more personable with students and not necessarily know there personal life but should be aware of there mood on a daily basis. All takes it a little more observation towards the mood of students and how they interact with there fellow students. Teen suicide cannot be stopped but it can be suspected earlier and therefore possibly stopped in some cases.

Steve Jobs Stanford Commencment

When I witnessed Steve Jobs speak at the Stanford Commencement my respect level I had for him rose tremendously. I was not aware of his life story whatsoever until I saw this video, I was very suprised that he was adopted and his orginal parents never attended post-secondary. Steve Jobs was fired from his own company by the Board of Directors and that blew me away. After that my confidence level would have greatly suffered but for Steve it just mean't that he had a chance to create something new. Pixar was maybe the greatest thing that has ever happened to childrens movies and it was all becasue Steve took something tragic and turned it into an oppourtunity, we all need to learn how to do that.

The Quarter Term Mark

It's been a quarter of the semester and I have began to get comfortable with my classmates. I do not spend time with any of them outside of school but I fully respect each and everyone of them and I'm so glad to have such an amazing class for the semester with a highly intelligent teacher. I wish I could be more involved with my school and community but as everyone knows , it's a busy world and I feel I always have something to do. But none the less during class I help as much as I can weather it be recycling, poster making or educating the grade nines every monday morning. I feel this leadership has helped me alot in understand what student pariliment does and how hard they have it.

Leaders and Leadership

Political leaders today have a lack of motivation to engage young people because they have faith in the stereotype that young people do not have any interest in politics. So they consider it a waste of time, when in fact young people need to be aware that some politicians to not label all teenagers and young adults , they want to create interest in them, but we need first need to give them the chance by attending conferences and following the speechs of the leaders. These people will run our country no matter what, we need to accept and embrace that fact.

Nelly And The 1 Million

I believe that it's conpletely acceptable to be donating the 1 million dollars Nelly got from Gadhafi back to Free the Childern in order to build schools for the girls on Kenya. She may not have been completely aware of the issues in Libya therefore did not find guilt in taking the 1 million dollars from the dictator considering many other celeberties preform for Gadhafi aswell and none of the money makes it back to africa. I believe Nelly Furtado is doing a wonderful thing.
